My Solar House Numbers

Along with solar lighting to find your footing in the hours of darkness we have added numbers which magically save a small portion of Sol's energy and release it during the same time frame to help you find the right house.

They are infinitely cooler then the sticky sheets of paper most people have.

Add the 'Digg it' button to the New Blogger

This was frustrating for all of 30 seconds. :)

First download your blogger template.

Goto Layout -> Edit HTML -> Click Download full template.

Open that template in a Text Editor. (I use Ultraedit-32 personally) Find the text below in red and add the rest of the text after it.

<div class='post-body'>
<p><data:post.body/></p>

<p>
<script type='text/javascript'>digg_url = '<data:post.url/>';</script>
<script src='http://digg.com/tools/diggthis.js' type='text/javascript'/>
</p>

Save the new updated template and then go back to Edit Html:

Goto Layout -> Edit HTML

From here browse and upload your new template and then view your blog. Done!

You can play around with it some. This just puts it right after the text of your post but there is no reason you can't style sheet it around. Next I want to add Slashdot it.

When Forums Go Wrong

Wow. Look at this forum: http://forums.ea.com/mboards/forum.jspa?forumID=723&start=0

They have Marquees, Blinking text etc etc. And this is from Electronic Arts. Perhaps they should implement BBCODE and ban Html etc.

Well Slashdot has always allowed HTML but there is someone that reviews it before it is submitted. The forum itself is actually quite interesting. God vrs Atheism, Pie vrs Cake (I picked Pie), What does FTW and GG mean. LOL.

Anyone else seen any forums like this?

Spiderman 3

I dunno. We had about 4 bathroom breaks but even still. This story looked thrown together and didnt mesh very well. Graphics were great... but at times... obviously graphics. The beginning started off with peter still looking like a little kid and socially acting like one.

The relationship stories were blah.

Even some of the battles I was like come on... This is just silly.

And it was sad. Sad for kids that is. Many of the kids were in tears at least twice. Not because they were scared but because they were sad. There is also so overacting when Peter and Venom merge for a bit that is just plain corny.

Mary Jane sings a few songs which is near unbearable and the spiderman dance scene... ugg.

Overall I liked the movie but it needs direction and better writers. (When you watch the Venom/Sandman/Spidey battle you will agree lol)

Was reading Slashdot

When I noticed a link to the top ten astronomy pics of the year. One paticular jumped out at me. Saturn Back lit looking towards earth and the sun. (You could never see this yourself until we discover space travel)

Check it here. (Kinda huge): http://ciclops.org/view_media.php?id=12498

In the upper left of saturns rings you'll see a tiny spec of light. Thats earth. Us. Yeah. Pretty cool.

Quite glad to see its not just my PC or MIC.... WTF...
Check out microsofts 2006 Vista voice recognization demo:http://gprime.net/video.php/microsoftvoicerecognition

Now Travis has always said the sword is the ideal weapon vrs a gun in close quarters... He actually has a funny story regarding it... but now we have actual proof! http://gprime.net/video.php/swordvsbullet

Hehe... I'm going to go out on a limb here and say yep, you probably wanted to see this: http://gprime.net/video.php/thelynxeffect

Now this is cool... http://gprime.net/video.php/smackbookpro

But what you want to know is if its fake right? Well look here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljLuJLP2Ir8 Learn more here: http://www.motiontheory.com/work/lenovo_thinkpad and here: http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/library/l-knockage.html?ca=dgr-lnxw01Knock-Knock

And now because you let me annoy you for so long... have some fun... http://gprime.net/game.php/tooncrisis (Very cool)

Windows XP2 Screwwed up your Broadband!

Hehe... Well it did. Before you do any of this crap make sure you have Windows XP Pro SP 2. (Windows Key + Break Key)

First up read this: http://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=1497

Then you need this: http://www.lvllord.de/?lang=en&url=downloads

I checked my event log and saw it running slowly whenever I ran a P2P program.

Now you want to fix Windows Media 10.

Goto Windows Media player: Tools then Options and then Performance.

Change the default buffer to 30 seconds... Autodetect sucks. It will
automatically screw up much of your viewing 90% of the time.

Finally make sure Video acceleration is full. (Unless you have issues with that)

Next up, all you cheapo's That won't buy cable... Get cable for free: http://www.4tv.com/ or http://www.gotuit.com/

While your there check out the trailer for Spiderman 3 or grab the Hi Res version of the trailer here: http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_pictures/spider-man_3/

Finally... this one is awesome for web browsing. Test it yourself... Goto internet option and delete your temporary files and then go to http://www.ddo.com/ What I want you to watch is the lower left hand corner of the screen and watch it download the items *slowly*.

Ok... Delete your temp files again and close your browser. Run the REG file out of here: http://www.speedguide.net/files/sg_webtweak_2k.zip

Now go back to DDO.COM.... Quite instantaneous eh? Try CNN... Etc... It owns. Ok enough for today.

Remote Control Dog

Remote Control Dog Posted by Hello

So I got a new
Green Laser Pointer which is great for skypointing and driving my cats crazy. I imagine that some day I'll also use it for a presentation or two. However one of the handier uses of the device is as a remote control for my dog.

New gadgets

As many of you know I am a complete logitech junkie. They have some of the best gadgets ever. Recently I acquired the new Orbit Cam and the new Bluetooth Headset. I recently added a review (see below). I've owned almost every logitech Keyboard and mouse but my latest and favorite is the diNova Desktop. Its sleek, stylish, gets great battery life and allows me to interface my logitech headsets directly with my computer.

The Logitech orbit camera is quite fantastic. It supports taking photographs up to one megapixel which is quite good for a $70.00 camera. It supports face tracking Which means the camera will rotate and follow my face as I reposition myself while having a video conference. It also comes with a stand which positions the camera at eye level. which is a great feature of the camera also moves verticly which means if I standup and pace around the room it does its best to keep my face in the center of it's focus. Its not foolproof, and turning from one side to another will sometimes cause it to lose you. The refresh rate on the camera is now 20-30 frames per second. overall though it is a step up from the previous camera. (Overall 7 out of 10)

Now the Logitech Headset on the other hand is a superior product! The microphone has built in noise cancellation and even works to block a light breeze should you be talking in the wind now we're not talking Gale force winds like if your walking through the city of Hartford... but mostly light breezes are not a problem for you, even strong wind seems to be fine if your speaking. The battery life on the headset is phenomenal: it claims six hours of talk time although I've talked on them for about seven hours and standby time of about a week. It is the first headset to out last my cellular phone. It charges very quickly and being a bluetooth device I use it for both my cellular phone and my computer. (Overall 9 out of 10)

Register Free now to view this

New york times, Ct NOW etc etc Seems like every site I click on these days wants to know who I am, what my email is and my life history before they let me view the article I will read in less then 30 seconds. Well no more. The next time a site prompts you to register check out Bug Me Not and relax. One of my favorite features of this site is their registration page. Your only required to register if you force people to register for your site. And the questionaire is hysterical Register now... A few of their questions: "List the email addresses of three of your friends or family members most likely to buy Viagra over the internet", "List the names of any of your friends, family or neighbors you suspect may sympathize Al Qaeda:". Obviously the makers of this website are as annoyed as I am with soul sucking registration required forms. I mean really, we all get enough spam as it is.

Oh and please note:
Any subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, agents, or employees of any site employing compulsory user registration mechanisms are not authorized to access the content or services of this site.

The Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy

If you haven't read this book I highly recommend it. It's in the news again as it's being made into a movie. Slashdot is covering the story. Although I wonder how it will turn out... it's got a fantastic cast of actors. Willow is playing Marvin, Bill Nighy (Viktor from Underworld, Billy Mack from Love Actually) is playing Slartibartfast. Quite a few actors from Shaun of the Dead as well. I will probably catch this flick just to see how the on screen portrayal syncs up with how I envisioned it. As a side note Underworld 2 is coming out this year and again features Viktor and as I recall he died in the first one... Interesting. I enjoyed the first one and as long as its not another matrix sequel we should be good.

Windows Movie Maker

So I'm telling my buddy Travis about the wonders of Picasa and showing him a simple movie I created. (In fact the one in the previous post.) and hes just not impressed with the movie aspect. He askes me if I have ever even tried Windows Movie Maker. He swears it is installed by default in Windows XP Pro. So I navigate around the accessories menu and sure enough there it is.... But now I have to test this thing out... What to do? Who do I have some movie clips of? Oh yeah look at this guy:

So this here is Sean and I thought hmmm what a perfect test. I have a few videos of him kicking around and currently he's in Oklahoma so I feel a little bit brave. (He won't be back for months hehe) So without further or do take a look: Sean who may kill me when he returns..

Use Picasa to Create Movies

Picasa is a fantastic image organization tool. I recently used it's label feature to organize about 300 pictures in ways that I can now find them. I love features like Split folder and the picture tray. Well I was clicking around and it appears you can make movies quite easily. Im sure you all know ryan:

Heres a quick movie of Christmas Morning I put together in about 5 seconds. Ryan on X-mas morning (avi Format, 1.8 MB). I don't believe you can add sound yet but it is hands down the easiest way I have ever created an AVI before. Hopefully in the future they will allow you to embed sounds and change some of the transtions. The size of the movie in terms of megabytes seems to vary quite drastically depending on the compression codec you choose so try them all. I also personally like the compression free format for hard copies. Enjoy and post links to your Picasa Movies!
